Fiancé(e)/Proposed Civil Partner

The requirements for entry clearance to the UK as a fiancé(e)/proposed civil partner are very similar to the rules for married/civil partner couples. You may wish to consider very carefully whether it is best to marry/enter civil partnership first and then apply for entry as this will avoid the necessity of making a fiancé(e)/proposed civil partner application and then a second application in the UK to remain as a spouse/civil partner.

You must apply for entry clearance to the UK as a fiancé(e)/proposed civil partner. You may be granted entry to the UK for a period of six months during which time you must marry/enter into civil partnership with your fiancé(e)/proposed civil partner in the UK. You will not be permitted to work in the UK on the fiancé(e)/proposed civil partner visa and therefore it must be shown that there are sufficient funds and suitable accommodation available in the UK without having to rely upon public funds for the six months fiancé (e) visa.

You must have met your future spouse/civil partner and intend to live together permanently with him or her. The overseas fiancé(e)/proposed civil partner and sponsor must both be at least 18 years of age.
